Flora of the Tropics: Torch Ginger
PRODUCT DETAILS
One of the three installations of Gin Long’s tropical flowers series.
In Flora of the Tropics: Torch Ginger, Gin Long creates his impression of the Etlingera elatior, more commonly known as the Torch Ginger, alluding to the flower’s multi-layered shape. As useful as it is beautiful, the flower is an important ingredient in many southeast asian recipes.
The artist captures the exquisite reddish-pink of its petals rimmed with white. Using deeper shades of red, he then brings out the beauty of it natural layers, creating the illusion of depth and light.
He carefully composes the background with supporting colours, using geometric rectangular forms to give the artwork a contemporary twist to the floral art genre.
