Jun Yao likes parrots as he perceives them to be smart, with the ability to communicate such as saying “hello”. He painted two parrots perched on a branch in this piece, with their backs against each other. It is almost as if they are close-knitted and they have each others backs.

Jun Yao was diagnosed with autism at the age of 4 and is a graduate of AWWA Special School. He has been fond of observing the expression and movement of animals since young. His fondness for animals translates into paintings of uniquely charming animal cartoon characters. Over the years, his artworks were exhibited in various art exhibitions and printed on merchandises. He enjoys using oil painting because of the vibrant colours and is able to make corrections easily if he makes any mistakes.
